We left the theater teary eyed this Christmas and we come to you with a tale of a princess without voice, and the fish-man boyfriend we all started this year wanting for ourselves. Talking points: how structure informs story, the fluidity of genre, what does it mean to have a voice in both a story and in real life, empathy in the face of societal violence, beautiful monstrosities, the softness of water, and, hey, maybe true love is real.
